The buses at SCAD are fairly confusing, especially if you are like me and have only taken a bus to and from school. Here’s a quick little cheat sheet about how to manage the bus systems.
Firstly, download the Rider app. It tells you when the next bus is coming, and where all the buses you want to see are. For some reason, not a lot of freshman had this app, and as a result, they missed the bus or waited at the bus stop for longer than needed. As freshman, the stop you will be using the most is the Turner bus stop, which is between Turner and Turner Annex. At this stop, there is the yellow, red, green, blue, and silver, Bee lines. Let’s start with the basics.
Yellow: Goes to the father buildings. From Turner, it goes to O-House>Eckburg>Barnard Village>Montgomery> Gulfstream>Boundary Village. You’ll only really need this route right now if you’re taking CMPA in Monty, or want Carnival there.
Red: Goes to the basic academic building. From Turner, it goes to O-House> Anderson>Wallin>Arnold and then back to Turner. It’s a solid half hour ride to Arnold, longer if you’re going out at rush hour. This is the hardest line to get on. Say, you have a 2 pm class. Everyone is going to start getting on a 1 pm, and the line will get longer and longer the closer it gets to 1:30. Try to catch a bus before or at 1 pm. If you’re early and aren’t allowed into the classroom yet, hang out outside, check your work, or explore the work that is always hanging up in the hallways.
Green: This one is kind of odd, and you will most likely never take it, except for special occasions. From Turner, it’s Crites /Eichberg/Museum of Art >O-House>Pulaski>Poetter/Haymans/Security/Morris>Pepe>Eckburg>Boundary Village, rounding out with Turner again. The ones with multiple names mean that all those places are very close to each other, and there’s only one stop. For example, for the Poetter stop, all those locations are next to each other.
Blue: Again, this is an odd one that you won’t really use right away. But just in case, from Turner it goes O-House>Hamilton/Adler>Alexander>Fahm>return to Turner and then Savannah Film Studio.
Silver: This is the line you can use to get to the library and Kroger. It runs from Turner> O-House > Student Center> Jen Library> Kroger and Boundary Village. It’s a quick route, but this bus is usually a ‘short bus’, and there aren’t a lot of spaces, so just be aware of that. Also, sometimes the bus driver miss the Student Center, so be aware of that.
Those are the five main routes, during the school week, the buses run from 7 am to about 12:30 in the morning. There are actually more, believe it or not. For the purpose of not confusing you, as well as keeping things as easy as possible, here are the buses you’ll want to know in addition to the main five.
Red Express: Simply put, it loops through the main Red academic buildings on hour long intervals. So if you have back to back classes, or want to work in a different hall after a class, this route is great.

Anderson, Wallin, and Arnold Express: These three bus lines go directly from Turner to the hall that is listed on them. Sometimes they are a bit hard to catch, but the easiest ones to catch are the ones at 7 am, 10 am, 1 pm, 4 pm, and 7 pm.
Purple: This is a really handy one to know. From Turner, it’s O-House> Jen Library> Norris> Clarence Thomas Center and Poetter/Haymans/Morris/Security. It’s handy to get on if you miss the Silver line at the library.
I know this seems like a lot, but over time you will get that a hold of everything. It’s easiest to start with remembering which buses take you to your classes. From there, just going about day to day life will help you figure out the buses and how they work. It becomes second nature by week three, guaranteed. At the very least, you’ll be able to know not to board the Red Express thinking it will take you to Turner, only to sit and watch Arnold go by three times. True story.

Good luck, and I’ll see everyone in a week.
