A new service is available to UVA employees. Teladoc offers you quick access to primary care physicians who can diagnose your health care concerns over the phone. Teladoc provides 24/7 access to convenient, confidential and affordable healthcare. You can speak with a licensed doctor about non-emergency health issues anywhere you are - at home, at work, or on vacation. Visit the Teladoc website. Create a username and password and provide the insurance information that is on your health plan’s ID card (you can even set this up ahead of time before you need it). Also provide a credit card because you will be charged a copay. PPO members – $20 copay; Custom HMO members – $10 copay.

New Telemedicine Feature
Teladoc for Behavioral Health: Members can register for Teladoc and log in via the web or through the Teladoc app to schedule a video visit with a board-certified psychiatrist, psychologist or licensed therapist 7 days a week from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm. Members have access to support for anxiety, depression, stress, family difficulties, and more. If members choose, they can then build an ongoing relationship with the same behavioral health professional by requesting follow-up appointments through the secure online message center.

If you can’t get a quick appointment with your Primary Care Provider (PCP), consider using telemedicine instead of going to an urgent care center or ED. Telemedicine is a service that allows you to have an online video consultation with a doctor whether you are at home or on the go, by using your computer, tablet or smartphone. You can use telemedicine services and speak with a doctor to receive a diagnosis and get recommended treatment for minor illnesses, such as a sore throat, runny nose, or headache. The doctor can even prescribe medications when appropriate.
