Todoist Windows 10 global shortcuts

Since Todoist, its Windows 10 app doesn’t support global shortcuts at the moment. I made a small workaround that adds the “open Todoist” and “Add new Todoist task” global shortcuts to Win 10. These workarounds add the following global TODOIST shortcuts to WIN 10:

  1. Our main reason for creating a new version of the Windows 10 Todoist app was to offer a better experience that’s more consistent across platforms. Aligning this new app with other versions of Todoist means fewer bugs, quicker bug fixes, faster app updates, as well as more new features.
  2. The app’s foundation is constructed on the already-solid base of TaskCrunch, the top-rated Todoist client for Windows acquired earlier this year by Todoist. The Todoist app for Windows 10 comes with a beautiful interface that is neatly arranged and user-friendly.

The Windows 10 app for Todoist was born from the acquisition of popular third-party Windows Phone client, TaskCrunch. Not just the app, but also its developer, Jan Kratochvil.

Installation Instructions

To install the Todoist global shortcuts, please perform the steps below:

  1. Download AutoHotKey.

  2. Install AutoHotKey.

  3. Download the Workaround.

  4. Unzip the Workaround file.

  5. Go to the “todoist-global-shortcuts-WIN10TODOIST_AHK” folder.

  6. Click on the installer.vbs file to install the workaround.

  7. Start AutoHotKey and the Todoist_global_shortcuts.ahk script (Found in the user-startup folder) or restart the PC for the changes to take effect.

FAQ

The workaround is not working what now

  • Make sure AutoHotkey is running on startup.
  • Ensure that you have the right user privileges to add files to your user-startup folder.
  • Still not working go to https://github.com/rickstaa/todoist-global-shortcuts-WIN10/issues

I used to love this app, my boyfriend and I used it as a grocery list so that we could quickly add what we wanted no matter where we were. Now, I can't use it unless I am on the online webpage. As of this morning, it prompted me to 'Authenticate' by reentering my password. I tried, didn't work, the window would shrink then come right back. It does this on my phone and my computer. I reset my password, logged out then back in, uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Nothing. This app used to be wonderful, now it's 100% useless

I'm on a org network, the app worked great for a bit, but now it asks to reauthenticate but doesnt work. I've rest my account, my password, reinstalled the app.. nothing reauthenticate just keeps coming up.. I liked it a lot when it worked for me

Wish this worked, nice interface, easy to get started. Froze my computer after less than a minute. Had to restart and uninstall. :(

I love the setup, kind of an action item log. Missing ability to share or print. This could be the deal breaker for Wunderlist. Allow printing or sharing for 5 stars, I will boot to Wunderlist. :)

Html code. I love todoist and was really interested in trying this, but when I tried to sign in using Google (which is how I sign into todoist) I was greeted with 'can't connect to this service'. Unfortunately I have to uninstall, but would look forward to giving this another chance in the future.

Todoist For Windows 10

This is exactly what I've been looking for and I'm hoping this little 'side project' becomes a bigger thing. I hope it doesn't die off. The ability to create different categories/board lanes would be a swell improvement as would the ability for the tasks in each lane to show a due date.. and so forth. Come on Todoist!! Let's make this happen!

Pleased with the addition of this app, I still use Trello for some task management along with TODOIST. Unfortunately I am not able to view PDF files I have attached to tasks when viewed in boards. It just says loading preview.
