Adobe last week opened up its desktop publishing and typesetting software InDesign with support for Apple Silicon up for beta testing. The new beta is expected to run natively on Macs with Apple’s M1 Chips including the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and Mac Mini. Users can install the app via Adobe’s Creative Cloud app installed on their Macs. InDesign was, and to some extent still is, the industry standard when it comes to desktop publishing. InDesign (running in Rosetta 2) on the M1 imported that document in 51 seconds, my high-end iMacPRO took 64 seconds for the same job.
Can Adobe InDesign run on an M1 Mac? At least it did for me, but as we talk about in the video, your milage may vary. For Illustrator we have seen repor. Apple announced its M1 Silicon chip with ARM-based silicon processors that run in their new computers. This will allow users to cross-platform support of the macOS and iOS. Software developed for Intel won’t run on the new chips, so software companies are scrambling to make their software compatible. Rosetta 2 is an option for some software.
The versions of the apps below work in Big Sur but have these known issues.

We are still testing and optimizing our other apps to make them fully compatible with Big Sur. We recommend that you run your Adobe apps only in operating systems and hardware platforms as noted in the system requirements for your apps.

If you're in the middle of a project or other business-critical work, we recommend that you wait until the project is complete. Before you upgrade, make sure you have a reliable backup and can restore to your current version in case you run into issues. If possible, upgrade in a test environment to ensure your third-party plug-ins, workflows, and configuration continue to work as expected.
We strongly recommend you wait until we have released a compatible version of your app.
